“The Only Mom” is a 2019 Burmese horror film directed by Chartchai Ketnust. The story follows Aung Thura (Nine Nine) and his wife, May (Wutt Hmone Shwe Yi), who move with their autistic daughter, Siri (Pyae Pyae), to a colonial-era mansion in Yenangyaung. The house is adorned with antique photographs taken using a 19th-century wet-glass process. Shortly after moving in, Siri’s behavior changes dramatically; she becomes polite and sweet but exhibits unusual patterns, sleeping during the day and staying awake at night. As May revels in the newfound connection with her daughter, the family begins to experience unsettling events linked to the house’s mysterious past.
The film received positive reviews for its strong performances, particularly by Wutt Hmone Shwe Yi, as well as its cinematography and sound design. It became one of the highest-grossing Burmese films of the year, earning approximately $4.8 million worldwide. “The Only Mom” was also showcased in countries such as Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam
